Is this a good graduation trip?

My friend is graduating this year, and she always wanted to go to Venice, California.But her parents never had the time to travel.I was thinking about surprising her by getting her a brochure and if her parents say yes. then I'll take her.We live in Nevada, so it's not a far drive.Is it a good graduation trip?
