In A Few Good Men - dont you think Jack Nicholson was a cardboard cut-out villain?

I may be the only citizen of the USA who is Not a Jack Nicholson fan. The only part I've ever liked him in was when he played The Joker, which was supposed to be over-the-top. Everything he does is a caricature (IMHO), and even though I know he's famous and well-respected, seeing his name on a movie does nothing to inspire me to watch it.
