I use Photoshop CS4 to create brochures/ flyers, but struggle to use InDesign?

I find Photoshop easier to navigate- i.e. create shapes, insert and modify pictures, place text; I think InDesign is more intended for these functions, but I just can't figure InDesign out- does anyone have any suggestions?
